Key steps for successful development and implementation of an individual RECP programme for enterprises-participants to RECP Club Orhei have been the focus of the Club work session.

A set of Resource Productivity and Pollution Intensity indicators (www.unep.org) has been offered to the participating companies as a means to facilitate and follow-up progress of individual RECP work at enterprise level.

Good practices for responsible management of chemicals and improved labour safety were addressed by local enterprises and organisations - members to RECP Club Orhei. 

The companies are welcomed and encouraged to continuously monitor use of chemicals at their companies, to reduce any risk of chemical-related accidents and to enhance security and safety at work place, at production site and wider community. 

Workshop on Green Growth Indicators organized by the OECD under EaP GREEN

NCPP-Moldova participated and contributed to the workshop on Green Growth Indicators meant to assess performance and report on green growth progress in Moldova.

 

The purpose of the work-shop is to agree on a complete and representative list of green growth indicators applicable in Moldova, based on OECD countries' experience and practical results of indicators implementation in the region.

In this respect, NCPP-Moldova has accumulated experience on application of Resources Productivity and Pollution Intensity indicators as a means to review progress in applying the principles of resource efficiency and cleaner production at enterprise-level, and is open to share and spread the experience to interested parties.

RECP Club Balti members got actively involved in searching solutions to efficient material use and waste prevention and minimisation for their enterprises, organisations and communities.

Examples of good practice on rational use of materials and waste prevention from their industry peers and other communities have inspired and encouraged the participants to get actively involved in solving waste related challenges in daily activities at household, company, and community levels.

First ever Eastern Partnership formal ministerial meeting dedicated to Environment and Climate Action

The EaP partners met in Luxembourg to adopt a joint Ministerial Declaration confirming joint commitment of EaP countries, including Republic of Moldova to stepping up cooperation on environmental challenges, and promotion of sustainable and inclusive economic development.

The contribution of EU, International Financial Institutions (IFIs), and international organisations (OECD, UNIDO and others) through their respective activities on the environment and climate change including through EaP flagship projects; such as EaP GREEN, has been stressed by the declaration.

 RECP Club Orhei met to find opportunities for, and learn about, good practices and methods for efficient material use and waste minimization. 

Waste management and material recycling practices for community have been brought up by the representatives of regional enterprises, local government and professional organisations. 

Relevant solutions to increase material productivity and reduce waste intensity at the enterprise level have been identified and proposed for implementation. 

Pan-European Strategic Framework for Greening the Economy

Pan-European Strategic Framework for Greening the Economy is adopted in result of Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference in Batumi, Georgia.

The document is meant to inspire action and provide state-of-the-art advice for strategies and plans for greening the economy, including through the implementation of resource-efficient production processes.

Efficient water use practices and wastewater prevention and minimisation opportunities were central in debate between RECP Club Balti members.

The companies and organizations from the Balti region have manifested high level of awareness on water related issues and shared good practical examples when growing water productivity contributes to improved economic and environmental performance and waste water reduction at production companies, while improving community wellbeing.

The advanced RECP opportunities proposed and implemented at demonstration companies have been presented at RECP training organized under the UNIDO RECP Demonstration Component in the framework of the National Cleaner Production Programme. 

Further improvements in RECP have been identified at production site upon guidance of international expert, Dr Johannes Fresner, and technical, environmental and economic performance thereof has been evaluated for support of further implementation.

VIth RECP Forum on EFFLUENTS REDUCTION in the framework of UNIDO RECP demonstration component under EaP GREEN

At the VIth RECP Forum carried out in Causeni region, the implementation of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production measures have been presented, in particular that referred to 70,000 m3 of wastewater no longer being discharged annually into the environment of the community Causeni. 

Regional enterprises and organisations participating to the forum confirmed the need for RECP and testified on the RECP achievements already gained in Causeni and referred to the reduction of consumption of natural resources and showed the desire to continue implementing and disseminating RECP concept to the neighbouring regions.

Vth RECP Forum on EMISSIONS REDUCTION in the framework of UNIDO RECP demonstration component under EaP GREEN

The activities of Vth RECP Forum, hosted by the CCI Ungheni branch, have shown lively interest on achievements and possibilities for increasing resource productivity and emissions reduction at enterprises and organizations in the region Ungheni. 

At the forum there were presented and discussed activities and accomplishments of RECP Club Ungheni that unites over 30 companies and is very active for two consecutive years in the region. The local team of RECP trainee experts shared the results of their work with regional manufacturing sector and the first RECP outcomes already obtained. 

Representatives from local government, business and academia, RECP practitioners and general public participated and expressed their appreciation of RECP-related benefits for their community and discussed ways for maintaining and multiplying the achievements obtained.

IVth RECP Forum on WASTE REDUCTION in the framework of UNIDO RECP demonstration component under EaP GREEN

The IVth RECP Forum was held in Chisinau, and was opened by Henno PUTNIK, project manager at the Delegation of European Union in Moldova. 

Central and local public authorities, business and academia, and other participating stakeholders have warmly welcomed Henno PUTNIK and thanked European Commission for support in greening the economy. 

RECP Clubs model raised interest to the participants coming from different sectors of business. It was stated that the RECP Club model is a good RECP policy model, and an opportunity to debate and cooperate around the common challenge of efficient use of natural resources and reduction of waste and emissions.

IIId RECP Forum on MATERIAL EFFICIENCY in the framework of UNIDO RECP demonstration component under EaP GREEN

The IIId RECP Forum dedicated to Materials Efficiency was attended in Chisinau by over 35 representatives of industry, public authorities, academia, business interested in efficient use of natural resources. 

Participants at the forum were presented recent achievements of the National Cleaner Production Programme with the view of promotion and implementation of RECP methods and techniques in Moldova and practiced widely by companies and organizations in several regions of the country. 

Through joint discussions and opinion exchange the audience strongly requested RECP further implementation for the business sector, and the desire to continue RECP policies promotion in Moldova was confirmed.

Follow up training and coaching under EaP GREEN RECP Demonstration Component

Practical implementation support on site monitoring of water/energy/materials consumption have been provided by UNIDO international expert, Dr. Johannes Fresner, during regional companies visits. 

The trainees group have improved their skills in process monitoring making use of kit of portable monitoring devices at production facilities, enhancing the accuracy of RECP evaluations at demonstration companies. 

Stakeholders National Workshop on Establishment of Pollutant Release and Transfer Register in Moldova

 NCPP-Moldova participated and contributed to discussions on challenges and requirements for establishment of a functional Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) in Moldova, as well as its promotion and implementation. 

The event was organised within the project Support for Establishment and Advancement of Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTR) in Western Balkan Countries and in Moldova with the aim of strengthening the transparency of decision-making on PRTR development and operation.

NCPP-Moldova has taken the opportunity to share to the general public the achievements and status of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production at Moldovan enterprises and organisations during the EUSEW 2016 Moldovan edition. 

The event was organised in Stefan Cel Mare public garden in the heart of the city of Chisinau and enjoyed active participation of co-interested parties in more sustainable energy use.

 NCPP-Moldova as a member of the RECPnet has participated to the Regional Chapter Meeting for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA), were the results of RECP promotion and implementation in Moldova has been presented and experience shared to the colleagues from the region.

The training session on Circular Economy was carried out by Dr. Johannes Fresner, international RECP expert, to enable RECP practitioners from Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia to reflect on available practices and to offer solutions for efficient, durable and equitable use of natural resource.

A side event Towards a Circular Economy in South East Europe organised With the occasion of the Eighth Environment for Europe (EfE) Ministerial Conference, has brought together experts from international organizations and National Cleaner Production Centres (NCPCs) from the South East Europe regional network in order to showcase examples and best practices of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP).

The NCPP Moldova has contributed with the achievements under the Low Carbon Production project in Moldova aimed for networking and fostered cooperation in RECP transfer and adaptation to food processing companies from the region.

Work on RECP adoption and implementation has been reflected by the official delegation of Republic of Moldova to the Eighth Environment for Europe (EfE) Ministerial Conference.

In particular Mr. Alexandru Bostan, Counsellor of the Minister of the Environment, stressed the considerable results achieved during the last years in green economy promotion and implementation, including by raising and measuring resource productivity at production units through regional RECP Replication Programmes, so called RECP Clubs.

Mr. Alexandru Bostan thanked the international implementing agencies and partners under EaP GREEN initiative for financial and methodological support and efforts on greening private and public sectors in the country.

National Roundtable "Green Economy. Made in Moldova"
